Outside of client work, I make a short-form analysis series, produce a travel video series, volunteer, and train bonsai.

One thing I love to do is profile local businesses and artists while traveling for a video series “This is the Local” with my friend Kelly.

We’re busy and publish when we can, but while filming we pay for their time, give them all the footage and photos pro-bono, and try to promote their work as much as we can.

Actually What’s Happening

20 Global Topics Shaping the World

I write and host Actually What's Happening, a news-analysis series that goes past the headlines to the forces underneath. It runs on a rotating global beat: immigration, healthcare, education, indigenous rights, digital sovereignty, water, energy, and housing and others. Every episode is deeply sourced and built to surface the angle most coverage misses. Across TikTok, YouTube, Substack, and Facebook (@drewfornow ), it's grown to 45,000+ followers and more than 1 million engagements.

It’s a fun hobby and also helps me stay current on what’s working on organic social media, really improving campaign and marketing performance.

I’m not home enough to have pets, but I do train bonsai at home. A few are almost a decade old and I’m a proud plant dad!
